Getting around Alsace during the festive season

Facilitate your travel during your stay in Alsace and discover the region’s Christmas traditions off the beaten track.

By train

Alsace is easily accessible by TGV, and once you are here it is easy to get around using the local TER trains.

Some examples of journey times :

  • Strasbourg > Colmar : 30 min
  • Colmar > Mulhouse : 20 min
  • Strasbourg > Haguenau : 34 min
  • Strasbourg > Obernai : 30 min
  • Colmar > Sélestat : 10 min

Great deals : the ALSA+ ticket

Travel freely all across Alsace, at lower rates! The Alsa+ pass gives you unlimited access to the entire public transport system, including trains, trams and buses, within the zone that you choose.

  • Get the “Alsa+ 24h” for a one-person, 24-hour pass, valid any day of the week.
  • Get the “Alsa+ Groupe Journée” pass for groups (from 2 to 5 people) on weekends.

Sold at train station ticket booths and from regional ticket machines. Not valid on high-speed trains (TGV).

Eguisheim

Accessible by Christmas Shuttle – from monday to thursday

Experience the intimate Christmas atmosphere in the heart of Eguisheim, officially classified as one of the “Most beautiful villages in France”. You can stop off and enjoy the charm by taking the Christmas Shuttle, which runs every day from Colmar railway station.

Kaysersberg, Riquewihr et Ribeauvillé

During December, the magic of Christmas takes over the three pearls of the Alsatian vineyards. During the Advent weekends, take the opportunity to discover these emblematic destinations aboard the Christmas Shuttle which runs in a continuous loop from Colmar railway station (buy your ticket from the driver).

Park & Ride

Park at a Park & Ride car park, near a tram stop and get return tram and/or bus tickets for everyone in the car. The ideal way to get into city centres cheaply and easily.

Strasbourg and Mulhouse both have a large number of Park & Ride car parks. In Colmar, a special Park & Ride scheme operates in the run-up to Christmas. It is located at the Parc des Expositions and parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.
