Christkindel and Hans Trapp: the legendary Christmas duo

Meet the characters of Christmas legends on a marvellous stroll through the streets. Hans Trapp and Christkindel bring a festive atmosphere to Christmas events and markets. This inseparable duo visit children from December 6 through Christmas night.

Dressed all in white and wearing a crown of fir branches adorned with four candles, Christkindel rewards well-behaved children with treats. As for bad-tempered Hans Trapp, he'll carry away disobedient children in his sack. Fortunately, it all ends with laughter, they're not that scary after all! You might cross paths with the pair in the streets, at a Christmas market, or during the night parade in Wissembourg.

Alsatian pottery: a local and ancient art

A culmination of centuries-old know-how, Alsatian pottery is the epitome of traditional craftsmanship. Take advantage of a trip to Betschdorf or Soufflenheim to meet the artisans who transform earth and clay into exceptional pieces.

For the holidays, the potters of Northern Alsace open up their Christmas workshops. In Betschdorf, come and visit the artists and take a turn at the potter's wheel. The Haguenau Christmas Market is a not-to-be-missed visit, open every day. More than 50 artisans set up shop in the chalets of the market.
