Albert Schweitzer House

" It is not every day that you can visit the house of a Nobel Peace Prize winner! Do not miss this unique opportunity to learn more about the life of Albert Schweitzer, an exceptional man. "

After several months of refurbishment, the new Albert Schweitzer Museum has been enlarged and modernized!

In the heart of the small Alsatian village of Gunsbach, come and visit the home of one of the most famous Nobel Peace Prize winners: Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), musician, philosopher, theologian, doctor in Africa and pioneer of humanitarian medicine. The example of a man gifted with unfailing optimism and his museum dedicated to "Respect for Life" will encourage young and old alike to question the meaning of their passage on Earth.

In many ways, Gunsbach was a great influence on Albert Schweitzer.

Albert Schweitzer had this house built in 1928 with money from the Frankfurt Goethe Prize. It was in this village, which he had known for fifty years, that he wanted to create an oasis of rest in his hectic life.
