ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES AT A TRADITIONAL WORKSHOP
Stroll through the authentic and colourful Alsatian houses, observe genuine scenes of everyday life at the beginning of the century, and learn about the forgotten trades of the time. Stop into the house of colours to make some bredeles, the little Christmas biscuits that Alsatians prepare during Advent. These treats have been the stars of Christmas for more than a century. Learn the simple recipe and choose your gourmet ingredients with flavours that take you back to childhood: cinnamon, lemon zest, and anise. Thinly roll out the dough and make fun shapes with a cookie cutter. A brush of egg yolk and into the oven they go! Enjoy the bredeles by the fire while listening to the stories of Alsace's Christmas characters: Christkindel, the formidable Hans Trapp, and the benevolent St. Nicholas.
DREAMS AND VIGILS IN THE VILLAGE STREETS
At nightfall, set off on an itinerant vigil alongside the talented volunteers who keep the soul and the history of the site alive. In the illuminated streets filled with the magic of Christmas, follow these costumed characters along a walk and a show that has become an iconic event in Alsace, called "Rêves et Veillées". Be carried away at this delightful evening of dancing fairies, soft music, and period traditions set to the sound of a Christmas tale. An unforgettable moment with beliefs, rites, customs, and intense emotions, to share as a family.
