Royal Concert - two trumpets and orchestra. The Sélestat Chamber Orchestra, composed of enlightened amateurs, invites different soloists for each concert programme. In this programme, a gentle introduction with Locatelli's lamentation, followed by the Italian jubilation of Vivaldi's concerto for two trumpets. This is followed by a rhythmic orchestral piece by the English composer Gustav Holst, who has the genius of bringing all the instruments of the orchestra to the fore. Finally, the two trumpets in dialogue with the orchestra in this work by Telemann, which borrows its solemn colours from the French style.
